LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Ciara Shorts and
Megan Toddy both earned All-Region honors with Top 25 finishes at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Saturday at Lock Haven.
Shorts finished 16
th for her second straight All-Region honor, while Toddy earned her first All-Region award with an 18
th place ending. It is the first time since 2002 that Clarion has had multiple All-Region runners in the same season.
“I couldn't be happier for the two of them,” Clarion head coach
D.J. Bevevino said. “Both ran career-best times today, and I'm pleased with how both of them finished their season. Our goal is to always finish strong, and they both did that.”
Shorts became t
he first Golden Eagle to have back-to-back All-Region honors since Erin Richard in 2006 (11
th) and 2007 (4
th) and ran a time of 21:48.5.
“Ciara was a really close to being even higher,” Bevevino said. “I'm really proud of what she has done all season and what she has done the last two seasons.”
Toddy was just behind Shorts in a time of 21:54.1
“Megan ran lights out,” Bevevino said. “She put it altogether today. It was a lot of hard work for her and a great reward for working hard all summer long.”
Milea Schall gave the Golden Eagles a third runner in the top 75 taking 72
nd in a time of 23:11.0 with
Kellie Wyatt finishing 116
th (24:28.9),
Sarah Loughner 122
nd (24:49.2),
Laura Walter (154
th) and
Susan Timko 156
th (27:43.2).
Clarion, behind Shorts and Toddy, was 14
th at the meet.
NOTES –In 2002, Melissa Terwilliger (8
th), Anna Beck (9
th) and Evelyn Abiola (11
th) all earned All-Region honors for the Golden Eagles. Terwilliger was a three-time All-Region runner finishing fourth in 2003 and sixth in 2004 as well … Shorts has also earned All-PSAC honors the last two seasons and finished 14
th this year.
