2012 NCAA Division II Capital One/COSIDA Academic All-America Teams
TOWNSON, Md. – Clarion University junior right-side hitter
Hannah Heeter has been named a second-team Capital One College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America®.
Heeter is a junior Pre-med/Biology major from Seneca, Pa. and Cranberry High School who carries a 3.99 GPA. She was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Atlantic Region and a second-team PSAC West selection this year after helping the Golden Eagles to a 24-12 record and the second round of the NCAA Division II championships. She ranked third on the team in kills (285, 2.26 per set), second in hitting percentage (.259) and third in blocks (102, 0.81 per set).
In her three-year career for the Golden Eagles, Heeter has helped Clarion to three NCAA Division II Tournament berths including the 2010 Elite Eight, the first Elite Eight in school history, as well as the 2010 Atlantic Region, PSAC and PSAC West titles. She has recorded 686 kills (1.96 per set) and 235 blocks (0.67 per set) in her career.
A two-sport star for Clarion, Heeter was the 2012 PSAC West Freshman of the Year in women's basketball (she currently has sophomore standing in basketball) while also being named second-team PSAC West after recording a season double-double (13.4 points, 11.8 rebounds per game), the only freshman in either NCAA Division I or NCAA Division II to do so, including a pair of 20-point, 20-rebound games. She was also a 2013 preseason PSAC West selection and is averaging 14.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in her first three hoops contests this season going into Saturday's game at Ursuline with a pair of double-doubles.
NOTES – Heeter is a two-time Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District recipient as well earning the award in 2011 and 2012 and a Clarion and PSAC Scholar-Athlete … It marks the second straight year Clarion's women's volleyball team has had a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America, as Rhi Brady earned the award in 2011. She is also the 19
th CoSIDA Academic All-America in Clarion history and the fourth in the last three years.
