BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Cress sisters combined to score seven points Friday in the shot put to help the Clarion University women's track and field team to a 10
th place standing after the second day of the 2012 PSAC Track & Field Championships at Bloomsburg.
Carol Cress took fourth with a throw of 42-feet, 2 1/4-inches while
Allyson Cress was seventh in the event with a throw of 39-feet, 7-inches. Combined with the eighth-place finish Thursday by Milea Schall in the 10,000-meter run, Clarion has eight points going into the final day Saturday just four behind ninth place Millersville.
Also Friday,
Alexis Carter qualified for Saturday's final in the 400-meter hurdles with the second-fastest preliminary time (1:03.22). Carter just missed qualifying in the 100-meter hurdles taking ninth in a time of 15.23, just 0.03 out of a qualifying spot.
Megan Toddy just missed scoring in the 5,000-meter run taking ninth in a time of 18:37.27, while
Sarah Loughner just missed scoring in the high jump taking ninth with a leap of 5-feet, 1 ¼-inches and
Carol Cress was 10
th in the Hammer throw (141-feet, 6-inches).
The 4x100-metr relay team of Carter,
Nicolena Guzzi,
Bethany Naugle and
Jessica Vitous took 10
th in a time of 49.57, while Vitous was 13
th in the 100 hurdles in a time of 15.99 and Naugle was 21
st in the long jump in a time of 16-feet, 1-inches.
Katie Chambers was 16
th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:23.41.
The championships conclude Saturday.
