(Hershey, Pa.):  Clarion senior Ross Pringle (Titusville) shot a 79 and the Golden Eagles currently sit in 15^th place in team scoring after Day 1 of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Super Regional held Monday at the East Course at Hershey Country Club.
 
            Playing to a par 71 and half of the first round in the rain, Wilmington leads the team race after 18 holes with a score of 301, IUP is second with a 307, Mass-Lowell third with 310, St. Thomas Aquinsa fourth at 312 and Concord fifth with a 313. Clarion is currently in 15^th place with a score of 327.
 
            Jordan Eck of California, Thomas Linehan of St. Thomas Aquinas and Paul Tighe of Wilmington lead the race for medalist with opening round scores of one over par 71. Clarion's top golfer is senior Ross Pringle, who carded an eight over par 79 in the first round with 8 bogeys and 10 pars. He is in 29^th place.
 
            Also participating for the Golden Eagles on Monday were  Chase Zamperini (So. New Bethlehem/Redbank Valley,  Bill Stover (Jr. Apollo), Zach Schloemer (Sr. Waynesburg/Waynesburg Central) and Alex Angelone ( So. Irwin/Penn Trafford).
 
            Zamperini shot a nine-over par 80 and sits in 38^th place, while Stover checked in with an 82 and is 58^th, while Schloemer is 83^rd after posting an 86. Angelone posted a disqualification, but will play on Tuesday and Wednesday.
 
            The 2012 Super Region I Tournament continues with 18 holes on Tuesday and concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday. The top 5 teams and the next two best individual scores not part of the top five teams will qualify for the NCAA D-II National Tournament May 15-19 at the Cardinal Club Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky.
