(Clarion, Pa.): Clarion freshman 125-pounder Seth Carr got things rolling on Thursday night Tippin Gym defeating freshman Jarray Norris 7-5 to lead off the Blue – Gold matches in front of a crowd of over 300 wrestling fans watching NCAA Division I Wrestling.

                The win for Carr was an elimination bout that secured a starting spot for him at 125 pounds.

                In other elimination matches that secured starting spots, Sam Sherlock decisioned Brodie Zacherl 7-3 at 149, Slade Horner decisioned Kyle Braddock 6-1 at 165, Michael PAvasko decisioned Dominic Rigous 4-1 at 174 and Evan Daley decisioned Joshua Davis 5-0 at 285.

                In a tightly contested elimination, Danny Sutherland lost to Terrell Fields 3-2 at 184, then came back and defeated Fields 7-2 in the deciding matchup.

                In exhibition matches Dante Taylor decisioned Matt Liggett 12-5 at 125/33; Michael Bonner pinned Joel Rosko at 4:20 at 133; Brock Zacherl major decisioned John Pezze 11-2 at 141; Dustin Conti decisioned Edgar Ruano 5-0 at 197 and assistant coach Ivan Lopouchanski maj. Decisioned Evan DeLong 15-4.

                Clarion's next action will be on November 2 when the Golden Eagles host the Clarion Open.
