CLARION UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC FACILITIES: There are three major athletic facilities located on the Clarion University campus including the Memorial Stadium Complex, the Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium/Natorium and the Recreation Center.
MEMORIAL FIELD-MEMORIAL STADIUM COMPLEX: The Memorial Field - Memorial Stadium Complex provides the "official" home for football, women's soccer, women's track and cross country, baseball and softball. The "College Stadium" opened for its first football game in September of 1965, a game that Clarion lost 7-0 to Ithaca College. On April 14, 1966, the complex was dedicated by the Clarion University Board of Trustees as "Memorial Stadium." The inaugural game as "Memorial Stadium" was a 39-6 win against Geneva College in 1966, a year the Golden Eagles were 10-0 and won the PSAC Title. The stadium, which has a seating capacity of 5,000, also has press box facilities, a concession area, new locker room facilities for soccer and football, a training room and equipment storage area. The stadium playing surface was replaced with Sprinturf in August of 2003 while adding lights at the same time. A new track surface, bleachers and seats and paint have all been accomplished. A brand new digital color scoreboard and visitor bleachers were also installed in August of 2008. Brand new baseball, softball and soccer fields are on the north end and built in 2000.
WALDO S. TIPPIN GYMNASIUM-NATATORIUM: The Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium-Natatorium was dedicated in ceremonies held October 12, 1968. The athletic facility was occupied seven years after the initial planning studies, with construction officially beginning in January 1966. The complex helps serve the indoor needs of the entire college community. In addition to the main gym, which is 112 feet by 100 feet, there are two auxiliary gymnasiums. Event seating at Tippin Gym is approximately 4,000. Also a main part of the structure is the Natatorium which has two pools for water sports and recreation. The swimming pool, which conforms to AAU standards, is 75 feet by 41 feet and is four to six feet deep. The diving pool is 45 feet by 42 feet and 12 feet deep. Other facilities include a large weight room area that houses olympic and free weights plus exercise machines. Also housed are handball courts, a dance room, a wrestling room, saunas, training and therapy rooms, offices and classrooms, which serve the educational needs of the HPE Department.
CLARION UNIVERSITY REC CENTER: A brand new, 48,000 square foot Recreation Building opened in November 1999 at Clarion University and is available to all students. This two-story, modern structure was constructed on Payne Street and is located across from the Gemmell Center Student Complex.
