BERKES, ROSSI NAMED ALL-PSAC-WEST

LOCK HAVEN - Clarion University utility player Scott Berkes was a first-team All-PSAC-West selection, while first baseman Matt Rossi is a second-team choice in voting by the league's coaches.

Berkes, a freshman from Berwick, played both second base and third base for the Golden Eagles while also pitching in eight games with three starts. He hit a team-best .387 (36-93), which ranks eighth in the PSAC-West, with four doubles, seven RBIs and 12 runs scored. On the mound, he had a 6.50 ERA in 18 innings of work while going 0-3 and recording 15 strikeouts.

FOLTZ'S GRANNY HELPS CLARION SPLIT WITH SRU

CLARION - Clarion split a season-ending doubleheader with visiting Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field winning Game One 8-4 and falling in Game Two 15-2.

In the first game, Clarion trailed 3-0 after inning but erased that deficit in the second when Adam Foltz hit a two-out grand slam that platted Matt White, Scott Berkes and Chad White, who had each singled.

EAGLES SWEPT BY SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK - Visiting Clarion was swept in a PSAC-West doubleheader at Slippery Rock's Critchfield Park Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles lost Game One 8-3 and Game Two 15-6.

In Game One, Slippery Rock (33-13, 14-8 PSAC-West) scored three runs in each of the first two innings to take a 6-2 lead after two and then tacked on solo runs in the fifth and sixth. Clarion (12-31, 6-16) got two in the second and one in the seventh.

SLATER'S GEM HELPS CLARION SPLIT WITH POINT PARK

PITTSBURGH - Freshman Brandon Slater, making his first career start, tossed a five-hit, one-run gem and Sean Zimmerman scored the eventual winning run on an error in the top of the eighth inning to help Clarion earn a split of a doubleheader at Point Park with a 2-1, eight-inning win in Game Two of the twinbill Wednesday afternoon.

Point Park won Game One 7-6 when it scored a run in the bottom of the seventh.

EAGLES DROP TWO TO MERCYHURST

ERIE - Mercyhurst swept a PSAC-West doubleheader from visiting Clarion Saturday afternoon.

The Lakers won Game One 9-0 and Game Two 7-1.

CLARION -- A late rally in Game Two wasn't enough for the Clarion University baseball team, as they dropped a pair of PSAC-West games to visiting Mercyhurst Friday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles dropped Game One 10-2 and Game Two 8-5.

CLARION DROPS PAIR TO LAKE ERIE

CLARION - A late rally in Game One and a strong pitching performance in Game Two weren't enough for the Clarion University baseball team, as the Golden Eagles dropped both ends of doubleheader to visiting Lake Erie Tuesday afternoon.

Clarion lost Game One 3-2 when it stranded runners on second and third after cutting a 3-1 deficit to 3-2. Then in Game Two, Eric Panko struck out 10 but took the loss after three of the four runs he allowed in five innings were unearned.

(LOCK HAVEN, PA.): Clarion's Baseball team dropped a key PSAC-Westdoubleheader on Monday at Lock Haven by scores of 2-1 and 7-3 at Foundation Field.

Clarion's record drops to 11-22 overall and 6-10 in the PSAC-West, while Lock Haven sits at 14-26 overall and 8-8 in the PSAC-West.

KRIMSKY HELPS CLARION GET DH SPLIT WITH LOCK HAVEN

CLARION - Jason Krimsky went 2-4 with a home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored to help the Golden Eagles earn a split with visiting Lock Haven in PSAC-West baseball action Saturday afternoon at Clarion's Memorial Field.

The Golden Eagles opened with a bang and never looked back scoring five runs in the bottom of the first en route to a 10-2 win in Game One. In Game Two, Lock Haven got a three-run homer that propelled them to a 7-5 win over Clarion earning a split of the day's doubleheader.

ROLLER'S GEM HELPS CLARION SPLIT WITH IUP

CLARION - Behind a gem from senior Chuck Roller, the Clarion University baseball team split a home doubleheader with PSAC-West rival IUP Monday afternoon.

Roller allowed a first-inning run in Game One to the Crimson Hawks before tossing six straight scoreless innings to pick up the complete-game victory. He allowed seven hits and two walks while striking out eight.

INDIANA - Thanks to great pitching in Game One from John Hynes and Brandon Slater, the Clarion University baseball team earned a split in PSAC-West baseball action at IUP Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (9-18 overall, 4-6 PSAC-West) won Game One 3-0 when it scored three runs in the top of the seventh before dropping Game Two 10-4 thanks to six runs in the first two innings by IUP (13-13, 6-8).

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Scott Berkes put in two solid relief outings and Erik Kempton hit his second home run of the season, but Lake Erie College swept a doubleheader from visiting Clarion in non-conference baseball action Thursday at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.

Lake Erie used a seven-run second inning and a five-run fourth inning to take Game One 12-2 before building a 5-1 lead in after three innings in Game Two on its way to a 6-3 victory.

CLARION BASEBALL SPLITS AT GANNON

(ERIE, PA.): Clarion's Baseball team defeated Gannon 5-3 in game 2 of their doubleheader on Saturday, earning a split against the Golden Knights at University Field. Gannon won Game 1 by a 7-5 score.

Clarion raised its overall record to 8-15 and now has a PSAC-West mark of 3-5. Gannon dropped to 4-21 overall and 2-10 in the PSAC-Western Division.

CLARION- The Clarion University baseball team won the nightcap of PSAC-West doubleheader with Gannon Friday afternoon 5-3after dropping the opener to visiting Golden Knights 7-4 Friday at Memorial Field.

In game two, Clarion jumped out to 4-2 lead in the first inning. Andy Petruska and Adam Foltz led off with back to back singles and wereplated on a Jason Krimsky single. Krimsky later stole home. Matt Rossi singled and scored on a Sean Zimmerman sacrifice fly.

CLARION - The Clarion University baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from Point Park Monday by scores of 12-6 and 8-5 at Clarion's Memorial Field to run its winning streak to three games.

In the opener, Clarion (6-13) scored the first 12 runs before holding off a Point Park (5-13) rally in the seventh.
