(CLARION, PA.): Clarion third year head baseball coach Mike Brown and the 2010 Clarion University Baseball team will be offering a youth baseball clinic for players ages 8-18 on Sunday, January 31st at Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium from 1pm-4pm. Cost of the clinic is only $35 per player and registration can be accomplished by contacting the Clarion University Baseball office through e-mail (mbrown@clarion.edu), at the baseball office (Room 115 Tippin Gym), or by calling the baseball office at 814-393-1913. Pre-registration is preferred, but players can register on the day of the clinic starting at 12:15pm at Tippin Gym Lobby. Campers will get a clinic t-shirt and a chance to win some baseball related items during the day. "We will cover all aspects of the fundamentals of baseball," said coach Brown. "It should be a fun day for everyone who attends. We expect to run a first class clinic." Brown is beginning his third year as the Golden Eagles head baseball coach. He was a volunteer assistant baseball coach at Clarion University in the 2007 and 2006 seasons. Prior to that he was the head baseball coach at Redbank Valley from 1998-2005 ( 8 seasons). In those eight years he had an overall record of 105-44 (70%) and a KSAC mark of 87-27 (76%). His teams won 3 KSAC titles (98, 99, 2000) and were D-9 runners-up twice (2000, 2004). He was named the Coach of the Year by the Clarion News in 1999 and the Kittanning Leader Times in 2004. |
