HALL INDUCTEE (Warrendale, Pa.): Clarion congratulates former Golden Eagle basketball player John Calipari ('82) on his induction into the Western Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on May 2, 2009 at the Pittsburgh Sheraton North. Clarion had a contingent of more than 40 representatives in attendance to honor Calipari for his induction including AD Dave Katis, SID Rich Herman, former head coach Joe DeGregorio, Board of Trustees member and former teammate Jeff Szumigale ('83) and former AD Frank Lignelli to name a few. John Calipari, a former Golden Eagle basketball standout and 1982 Clarion graduate, agreed to an 8-year contract today worth $31.65 million dollars plus incentives to become Kentucky's 22nd head basketball coach, pending the approval of the UK Board of Trustees. An additional $200,000 buyout was paid to the University of Memphis.
