ALFONSO HOGGARD 2ND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

(Clarion, Pa.): The 2008 Don Hansen Football Gazette NCAA Division II All-America team was announced today and Clarion University's Alfonso Hoggard (So. Philadelphia -Caravel Academy) was named as a Second Team All-American as an All-Purpose player.

Hoggard was earlier named by Football Gazette as a First Team Super Region 1 (East Region) selection, which put him on the national ballot.

Former Clarion All-America offensive lineman Reggie Wells, the starting left guard and offensive captain of the Arizona Cardinals, is headed to the Super Bowl XLIII after his Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 32-25 on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game.

(Clarion, Pa.): The 2008 Don Hansen Football Gazette Super Region 1 All-Region Team was announced today and Clarion University's Alfonso Hoggard (So. Philadelphia) was named as a First Team choice as an All-Purpose player.

Also honored as Third Team All-Region selections were defensive tackle Jimmy Simmons (Sr. Huntland, Tn.) and wide receiver Jaques Robinson (So. Pgh - Oliver).

SIMMONS, HOGGARD & ROBINSON EARN ALL-PSAC AWARDS

(Clarion, Pa.): The All PSAC-Western Division Football teams were announced today and three Clarion University players were named to the second team.

Honored by the PSAC-West coaches were Defensive Tackle Jimmy Simmons (Sr. Huntland, Tn.), and sophomore wide receivers Jaques Robinson (Pgh - Oliver) and Alfonso Hoggard (Philadelphia - Caravel Adademy). Hoggard was also named second team as a return specialist.

CLARION GRIDDERS DEFEAT CHEYNEY 41-20

(CLARION, PA.): Clarion's Jaques Robinson (So. Pgh. - Oliver) caught 10 passes for 140 yards and 2 td's and Eddie Emmanuel (Sr. Hempstead, N.Y.) rushed for 133 yards and 3 td's as the Golden Eagles defeated Cheyney 41-20 on Saturday afternoon.

Held at Clarion's Memorial Stadium on Senior Day, Clarion finished the season with a 3-8 overall record while Cheyney fell to 0-11.

CLARION HOSTS CHEYNEY IN SEASON FINALE

The 2008 football season will come to a close this Saturday, November 8th, as the Golden Eagles host Cheyney in a PSAC crossover game.

Kickoff is set for 1pm at Memorial Stadium with six seniors honored in pre-game ceremonies. Those seniors will be Kevin Brady (Middletown, N.Y.), Eddie Emmanuel (Hempstead, N.Y.), Bob Kail (McMurray/ Peters Twp.), Nick Perla (Irwin/Penn Trafford), Jimmy Simmons (Huntland, Tn.) and Dane Williams (Pgh - Penn Hills).

#21 EDINBORO RUSHES PAST CLARION 35-10

(Clarion, PA.): Edinboro running back Michael Battles rushed for 113 yards and 1 td, and qb Trevor Harris tossed 3 td's as the Fighting Scots defeated Clarion 35-10 on Saturday afternoon.

Held at Clarion's Memorial Stadium, Edinboro, ranked #21 in the latest AFCA Div.II Poll, raised its record to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the PSAC-West. Clarion dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the PSAC-West.

Clarion's football team returns home this Saturday, November 1st, to host #21 ranked Edinboro in a key PSAC-West game.

#21 INDIANA DROPS CLARION 66-16

(INDIANA, PA.): IUP jumped out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back as the Crimson Hawks defeated the Golden Eagles 66-16 on Saturday at IUP's George P. Miller Stadium.

Indiana raised its record to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC-West, while Clarion dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the PSAC-West.

CLARION TRAVELS TO #21 IUP SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Coming off its 24-21 win over Lock Haven last week, Clarion hopes to carry the momentum to IUP this Saturday, October 25 as the Golden Eagles take on the Crimson Hawks at G.P. Miller Stadium.

Kickoff for the PSAC-West contest is set for 3:30pm. The Game will be televised on the PA-Sportsfever Television Network.

CLARION RALLIES TO DEFEAT LH 24-21

(LOCK HAVEN, PA.): Clarion rallied with the final 10 points, including Robert Mamula's 27-yard game winning field goal with 3:30 remaining in the game, as the Golden Eagles defeated Lock Haven 24-21 on Saturday night at Hubert Jack Stadium.

Clarion raised its overall record to 2-6 and 1-4 in the PSAC-West, while Lock Haven dropped to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in the PSAC-West.

(CLARION, PA.): Clarion enters week eight looking for its second win of the season and first in the PSAC-West as the Golden Eagles visit Lock Haven on Saturday, October 18. Kickoff is set for 7pm at Hubert Jack Stadium.

(CLARION, PA.): Slippery Rock running backs Ryan Lehmeier, Corey Manful and Sayquan Scott-Mitchell rushed for over 100 yards and 2 td's each, leading "The Rock" to a 49-14 win over Clarion on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

A PSAC-Western Division game, Slippery Rock moves its record to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC-West. Clarion dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the West.

CLARION HOSTS SRU SATURDAY NIGHT

After losing the Homecoming Game to Cal last week, the Golden Eagles hope to rebound this Saturday as the Blue and Gold host Slippery Rock on Saturday, October 11th at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6pm in this PSAC-West matchup.

(CLARION, PA.): The Golden Eagles were inspired for their Homecoming Game against #9 Cal on Saturday afternoon, wide receiver Jaques Robinson had a career game and Eddie Emmanuel rushed for over 100 yards, but it just wasn't enough as California defeated Clarion 52-20 in a PSAC-Western Division game.

Held at Clarion's Memorial Stadium in front of 6,200 mostly Golden Eagle fans, Cal raised its overall record to 5-1 and 3-0 in the PSAC-Western Division. Clarion dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the West.
