(Belle Vernon, Pa.): Clarion University Men's Golfer Jared Schmader (Cooperstown - Maplewood) won his third consecutive tournament and the Golden Eagles finished second at the California University Invite held at Cedarbrook Golf Club October 5-6.

Schmader shot a 4-under par 139, including a two-under 69 on day one and a two under 70 on the second day. Schmader defeated IUP's Gavin Smith in a playoff for medalist honors. Schmader had a par 5 on the first playoff hole, while Smith had a bogey 6.

Schmader has been on fire in his last three tournament. He was 4-under at the Clarion - Hal Hansen Invitational for 36 holes on September 14-15, and he shot an even par 140 at Wheeling Jesuit on September 22-23 also winning medalist honors. Including the Cal Invite - Schmader is a combined 7-under par for his last 108 holes.

As a team Clarion was second with a team score of 581 behind IUP, who won the event with a 576. There were 9 teams in the event.

Also placing fourth overall was Clarion freshman Zach Schloemer (Fr. Waynesburg - Waynesburg Central) who shot a 68, 77 - 145, and Justin Cameron (Sr. Punxsutawney) who had a 72, 76 - 149 for 9th place. Also scoring for the Eagles were Ross Pringle (Fr. Titusville) and Mike DeAngelo (Jr. New Castle - Shenango) who had 151's and finished 19th. Pringle had 75, 76 and DeAngelo carded a 73, 78.
