![]() THIEL PSAC MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE YEAR Clarion junior freestyle swimmer Ryan Thiel (Jr. Ligonier/Ligonier Valley), who owns 5 Clarion Men's Swimming records, was named today by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as the "Men's Swimmer of the Year" in a vote by the PSAC head coaches. "Ryan is extremely deserving of this award," said Clarion head coach Mark VanDyke. "He's a very hard worker and great swimmer who has had three fabulous years of swimming at Clarion. We're proud to have Ryan at Clarion." [+]![]() CLARION'S THIEL 6-TIME ALL-AMERICAN (Houston, Texas): Clarion University's men's 400 free relay team of Andrew Claypool (Jr. Kittanning), Matthew Bojalad (Fr. DuBois), Dustin Fedunok (Jr. Gibsonia - Pine Richland) and Ryan Thiel (Jr. Ligonier) placed 12th at nationals on Saturday night and the Golden Eagles were 13th as a team at the NCAA Division II Men's Swimming and Diving Nationals Championships. Held at the University of Houston's Wellness and Recreation Center, and part of the NCAA Division II Winter Sports Festival, the final men's team scores saw Drury win the national title with 543 points, Wayne State was second with 504.5, Missouri S&T was third with 320.5 and Clarion ended 13th with 112.5 points. [+]![]() PEARSALL 2ND/SIMENS 3RD AT D-II NATIONALS (Houston, Texas): Clarion University sophomore diver Logan Pearsall (Port Allegany) finished second in 1 Meter Diving and senior Denise Simens (Hollister, Ca.) was third in the 100 breaststroke as Clairon University Swimming and Diving competed in Day three of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving National Championships hosted at the University of Houston. Held at the University of Houston's Wellness and Recreation Center, and part of the NCAA Division II Winter Sports Festival, Wayne State leads the men's team scoring with 404.5 points, Drury is second with 368 and Missouri S&T is third with 216. Clarion is in 11th place with 103.5 points.
