Clarion's NCAA Division I Wrestling team travels to NCAA D-II #4 rated Pitt-Johnstown on Friday, February 5th at 7pm at the UPJ Sports Center. The match can be heard locally on WWCH-AM 1300 and on the internet at Redzonemedia.com, with Rich Herman calling the action. Clarion fourth year head coach Teague Moore leads the Golden Eagles into action with a 5-6 dual meet record and a 2-1 mark in the EWL. The Eagles are coming off a strong performance last weekend on the road with wins at Bloomsburg (22-17) and Princeton (38-6), plus a close loss to Rider (25-19). The Eagles opened 2010 with a 24-14 loss to #13 Kent State 24-15, defeated #25 Old Dominion (20-18), lost to #4 Oklahoma State (42-6), lost to Michigan (29-15), defeated Eastern Michigan (19-13), lost to #21 Edinboro (25-13), defeated West Virginia 20-14 and lost to Penn (24-18). Clarion's lineup for UPJ will likely be: Joe Waltko (10-14, Fr. Allison Park, North Allegheny) at 125; Jay Ivanco (9-15, Jr. Monroeville, Gateway) at 133, Greg Lewis (11-9 Sr. New Providence) at 141, #18 James Fleming (21-5, Fr. West Mifflin, West Mifflin) at 149, #18 Hadley Harrison (27-7, Sr. McKean/General McLane) at 157, Justin McCrillis (2-8; Fr. Greenville) at 165, Steven Cressley (14-18, Fr. Punxsutawney) at 174, Clint Podish (14-9, So. Sycamore, Waynesburg Central) at 184, Alex Thomas (14-10, Fr. Seaford, De., Sussex Tech) at 197 and Quintas McCorkle (20-12, So. Alexandria, Va.) at heavyweight. Pitt-Johnstown, led by veteran mentor Pat Pecora who is in his 34th season at UPJ, has another quality team in 2010. Pecora has led UPJ to NCAA D-II National Titles in 1996 & 1999, won 470 dual meets, tutored 9 individual national champions and 123 All-Americans during his amazing tenure. The 2010 Mountain Cats are ranked #4 in D-II and have a 10-2 dual meet record this season having defeated West Liberty (27-12), East Stroudsburg (35-4), Kutztown (21-10), Davidson (43-3), SUNY-Brockport (35-3), Nassau Community College (31-9), Gannon (27-6), Belmont Abbey (41-4), Limestone (26-6) and Ashland (27-15), with losses to Div.II #2 rated Newberry (18-16), and UNC-Pembroke (27-13). The UPJ lineup has Ryan Link (16-5) at 125, #1 rated Shane Valko (18-1) at 133, Adam Whetstone (11-4) at 141, Ryan McIntyre (14-11) at 149, Zach Lundgren (10-6) at 157, #3 ranked Kyle Keane (21-6) at 165, Steve Makin (18-8) at 174, #8 ranked Pat Walsh (21-6) at 184, A.J.
