Second chance points lift Millersville past Clarion 66-57

CLARION - Millersville used 24 offensive rebounds to score 27 second-chance points on its way to a 66-57 win over Clarion in PSAC women's crossover basketball action Saturday afternoon at Clarion's Tippin Gym.

The Marauders (10-3) outrebounded Clarion 48-28 in the game and used the second-chance opportunities to offset a 39.3 percent (24 of 61) shooting day.

Jenna Philo led four Millersville players in double figures with 15 points. Ashley Romanoski had 13 points and 12 rebounds with all 13 points coming in the first half. Gladine St. Julien chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds, and Aiesha Bellamy had 11 points.

Clarion (9-4), which lost at home for the first time this season, also had four players in double digits. My'Kea Cohill led the way with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Katrina Greer had 13 points, Sara Pratt had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Jessica Albanese scored 10 points. Ashley Grimm chipped in with seven points, five assists and four steals.

The Golden Eagles trailed by four with under a minute to play, but Millersville connected on 6 of 8 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Both teams return to action Sunday. Clarion hosts West Chester at 1 p.m., and Millersville is at IUP at 1 p.m.
