CLARION - For the fourth time in six games, the Clarion University women's basketball team had five players score in double digits on its way to an 85-64 win over visiting Bloomsburg Sunday afternoon.
Clarion (5-1), which is off to its best start since starting the 2004-2005 season 8-1, was led by 20 points and five rebounds from Katrina Greer. Sara Pratt added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Jessica Albanese had 13 points and 10 boards. My'Kea Cohill added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists, and Janelle Zabresky had 11 points, seven rebounds. Ashley Grimm set the offense up with nine assists while adding six points and six rebounds.
Colleen Kegerreis led Bloomsburg (3-4) with 21 points, eight rebounds, while Kelly Joyce added 13 points and six boards. Lauren Healy had 14 points and three helpers off the bench.
Clarion trailed 16-15 midway through the first half but ended the half on a 25-8 run to take a 40-24 halftime lead. The Golden Eagles then got the lead up to as many as 26 in the second half on their way to their highest point total since scoring 91 vs. West Chester two seasons ago.
Clarion returns to action Dec. 15 when it hosts Lake Erie at Clarion High School. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. |
