LOCK HAVEN - Clarion University senior guard Bethany Koch is the first PSAC-West Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2009-2010 season after leading the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins at the Clarion Classic Sunday and Monday. Koch (Sligo/Union) nearly averaged a double-double with 22 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as well as adding 2.0 steals in wins over Alderson-Broaddus Sunday and Bowie St. Monday. She shot 50 percent from the field (20 of 40) in the two games. In Monday's 73-50 win over Bowie St., Koch had 25 points and 15 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, while also chipping in two steals and a block. She started the season with 19 points and four rebounds in a 71-63 win over Alderson-Broaddus Sunday. In that game, she was at her best when it counted the most scoring eight of Clarion's 14 points during a 14-3 run late in the game after A-B had cut the Golden Eagles lead to one. NOTES - The last time Clarion had a PSAC-West Player of the Week was Dec. 20, 2007, when Katrina Greer earned the award ...
