LOCK HAVEN - Clarion University junior guard Katrina Greer (Centre Hall/Penns Valley) is the PSAC-West Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Greer helped the Golden Eagles (7-1) to a 2-0 week with wins over Lake Erie (66-65) Saturday and Cheyney (81-67) Tuesday by averaging 17.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg while adding three steals and three assists.

Her best performance of the week came against Cheyney when she scored a game-high 22 points and scored the first nine points of an 11-1 run that erased a 1-point deficit late in the game.

She has come up clutch in the win over Lake Erie when she was fouled attempting a 3-pointer with less than a minute left and Clarion down five. She hit all three free throws to ignite a game-ending 6-0 run that lifted the Golden Eagles to the victory.

On the season, Greer, an All-PSAC-West second-team selection last year, is averaging a team-best 17.1 ppg to go with 4.3 rpg.

GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES - Clarion's 7-1 start is its best since starting the 2004-05 season 8-1, and Clarion's .875 winning percentage before Jan. 1 is the Golden Eagles best before New Year's Day since going 9-1 (.900) in 1993-94 ... Greer is the second Clarion player to earn a Player of the Week award this season joining Janelle Zabresky, who won the award Nov. 27. It is the second time in Greer's career she has been named PSAC-West Player of the Week. She was a 3-time PSAC-West Rookie of the Week two seasons ago.
