SCHMITZ NAMED HEAD SOCCER COACH AT PSU-DUBOIS

Rachael Schmitz, the Clarion University women's soccer teams' 2008 Most Valuable Player and a two-year team captain, was recently named the first coach of the fledgling Penn State University-DuBois women's soccer program, which will being play this fall.

"I'm excited for this opportunity," Schmitz, who will graduate from Clarion in May 2010 with a degree in Elementary Education/Special Education, said. "Since my playing career is over, the next step in my soccer career is coaching. I've wanted to be a coach since I was in high school, and to get an opportunity to do so at the collegiate level is an honor."

WATERHOUSE ALL PSAC-WEST CHOICE

CLARION- Rebecca Waterhouse (Jr. Girard) was named to the All PSAC-West second team for the third year in a row.

Waterhouse, a defensive specialist, anchored the Golden Eagle defense playing in 18 games. She helped the Clarion defense to post three shutouts and two games giving up only one goal.

CLARION- Clarion University's Women's soccer team closed out their season with a 3-1 loss to Edinboro.

Rachael Schmitz capped her Clarion career with an assist on an Alyssa Jacobs goal in the 86th minute. The assist gives Schmitz a total of 19 points for her career.

CLARION- Clarion University's Women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 match to visiting IUP Wednesday in PSAC-West play.

Clarion was able to muster 10 shots but was unable to find the back of the net.

CALIFORNIA- Clarion University's Women's soccer team lost 2-0 at California Saturday in PSAC-West action.

Amanda Heister scored unassisted for California at 9:45 to open the scoring. Kayla Jachinowski added an unassisted insurance goal at 55:57 to set the final at 2-0.

IUP MATCH CHANGED TO OCTOBER 29TH

CLARION- Clarion University's Women's soccer team rallied late to earn a 3-3 tie with visiting Lock Haven in a PSAC-West match up Tuesday night.

Hillary Dieter scored at the 82:22 mark assisted by Emily Heasley to tie the game 3-3 and sending the game to overtime.

Eagles fall to Gannon

CLARION- Clarion University's Women's Soccer team dropped a PSAC-West match up 4-0 to Gannon.

Heather Patterson started the scoring with a goal at 5:20 assisted by Colleen Schwarz. Amanda Sharbaugh would add an unassisted tally at 23:55 to make the halftime score 2-0.

EAGLES FALL TO MERCYHURST

CLARION - Sarah Powell scored two goals and assisted on a third to lead Mercyhurst to a 6-0 win over Clarion in PSAC-West women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Clarion's Memorial Stadium.

The Lakers (7-3-3 overall, 5-1-3 PSAC-West) scored on six of their 17 shots against Clarion goalkeeper Jenna Kulik, who made five saves.

EAGLES DROP MATCH TO SLIPPERY ROCK

CLARION- Rachael Schmitz scored for the second consecutive game for Clarion University's Women's Soccer team as they fell to Slippery Rock 2-1 in a PSAC-West match-up.

Schmitz put the Golden Eagles ahead early with an unassisted goal at the 3:18 mark.

Hillary Dieter added a goal at 11:19 on a corner kick from Jordan Daloisio to make the score 2-0 going into the half.

EDINBORO- Clarion University's Women's Soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Edinboro on Wednesday in a PSAC-West match up.

Ashley Jones opened the scoring in the 20th minute with an unassisted tally on a free kick. Amber McLaughlin would make it 2-0 with a goal assisted by Rachael Dahlstrand in the 69th minute.

MEADVILLE- Clarion University's Women's Soccer team improved to 2-6-2 on the season with a 1-0 win over Alleghany College despite being out shot 10-7.

Lisa Crist scored in the 78th minute on an assist by Emily Heasley.

Clarion University Women's Soccer team slipped to 1-6-2 overall (0-4 PSAC-West) with a 4-1 loss to IUP.

IUP's Allison Keller opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Paige Virgara at 25:54. Sarah Romasco scored at 41:18 assisted y Melina Lieb to make the score 2-0 going into halftime.

The Clarion University Soccer Women's Soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Bloomsburg.

The Golden Eagles were only out shot 13-12 but Bloomsburg found the back of the net twice. At 38:46 Kelsey Stoka scored unassisted to make the score 1-0. Ashley Brucker tacked on an insurance tally on an assist from Suzie Wade to make the score 2-0.
