![]() MALONEY RECEIVES 2009 NCAA SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD Making the presentation on behalf of the NCAA was Penn State Altoona A.D. Fredina Ingold. Also involved in the presentation to Maloney, were her parents Joe and Elaine Maloney of York, Pa., Associate A.D. Wendy Snodgrass, and women's swim coach Mark VanDyke. Each year the NCAA honors one male and one female student-athlete in each NCAA Division who, through their actions in the competitive arena, have demonstrated one or more of the ideals of sportsmanship. These include fairness, civility, honesty, unselfishness, respect and responsibility. [+]![]() EAGLES WITHDRAW FROM WEEKEND MEET The Clarion University Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams will not swim this weekend against Gannon, Edinboro and Ashland. The meet was originally scheduled to take place at Warren Harding High School, but the meet has since been moved to Ashland University and head coach Mark VanDyke announced today that Clarion would not compete on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will next be in action on Saturday, January 30th when Clarion hosts IUP. Meet time is 1pm. [+]![]() EAGLES SIXTH AT ZIPPY INVITE (Akron, Ohio): Kaitlyn Johnson tied for first in the 100 free leading Clarion University's Women's Swimming and Diving team to a sixth place finish at the Zippy Invitational, held at the Ocasek Natatorium and hosted by Akron University. A three day event that finished on Sunday night, Ohio U won the event with 1,318 points, Buffalo was second with 1,225, Akron third with 1,189, and Clarion sixth with 908 points. Thirteen teams participated.
